Landon and Mr. Lincoln
It was one of the most touching things I have yet seen in church.
After Mr. Lincoln, our eldest elder at eighty something, cheerfully
finished leading the congregational singing a missionary family came up to talk
about their work in the Philippines. The
young family had been living there three years and seen God open many doors to
help people and share the love of Jesus with them. It was exciting hearing about their journey and
imagining the new things yet to come.
The young preacher asked his beautiful wife and daughters to sing a song.
Then he sang a song with his bubbly, red haired, almost four year old son. When his son finished the song, which he sang
heartily in two languages, he went down the platform but did not return to his
momma and sisters. Instead, he made a
bee line, in the opposite direction, for the Lincolns and cozied right up to our
senior song leader, Mr. Lincoln, who put his arm around his little shoulder and
beamed. Kindred spirits found each other. They both love to sing and both have the love
of Jesus shining from their hearts.
They were best friends that met that morning.
